At Rapid Displays, Inc., we are determined to have an impact on the world in which we live. In fact, we are changing the way we do business to lessen the impact we have on the environment. It is our hope and intention that the generations that follow us will find the world in at least the condition in which we left it, if not significantly improved.

Some of our efforts under way to save the environment are:

• The raw materials that we use are metals, plastics, paper, corrugated, chipboard, etc.. We have increased the percentage of waste being recycled by a factor of 10 and the percentage of waste being recycled continues to increase.

• Many of the display materials we purchase, cardboard and chip board, are made from 100% recycled material. In fact, of that percentage, 99% of the material used is post-consumer recycled material.

Rapid participates in many ways to save energy, by using more renewable resources and continuing to look for energy saving ideas.

For example:

• We currently use software, approved by Energy Star, which automatically shuts off our computer systems after a set time of inactivity. This enables the computers to consume much less electricity. This program also shuts the computers off if they are left on, by accident, over night.

• Rapid has also looked into using solar lighting in the near future. We are considering using solar tubes technology which will allow us to pull in solar light. This will help us to use less energy for factory lighting while also cutting down on the amount of greenhouse gas produced by power companies to develop energy.

• Rapid’s fleet of cars was purchased with E-85 certification. This means our fleet can use the higher ethanol content grade of gasoline (up to 85%), so there is less oil used per gallon. We encourage our drivers to fill up with this grade where it is available.

• Most Chicago suburbs do not allow junk mail in their recycle bins. Rapid has provided reusable canvas bags to their employees that allow them to bring the huge volume of junk mail received at home to work to be recycled.

As Rapid continues to explore new ways to save energy and operate in an eco-friendly manner, we will amend this statement when new initiatives are implemented.
